I loved your memo, btw...

"13 Going On 30"
[Music || Toya, "I Do!!!"]
So, the good news was after I typed the last blog, Nai called me up to say our group meeting was cancelled! I was kinda bummed out because I wanted to go to the 2:20 p.m. showing of "13 Going On 30" but then I remembered there was a 3:00 showing! So I immediately grabbed my stuff and ran out of the room to get to the bus. I've never been to Century Theatre so I wasn't sure if I should take the school shuttle and walk from the bus station or just take the bus. I chose to take the bus since I assumed it would just drop me off directly in front of the theater! Bad choice! The bus took me to the same bus station, so I had to walk the same distance to the theater if I had taken the shuttle (only I had to pay $1.25 for the bus fare, whilst the shuttle is free).

Anyway, I left my room at 2:45 and by the time I walked to the theater, it was 3:15. I missed the beginning of the movie so I was like "Okay, I'll just go to the next showing at 4:15 instead of watching 'Kill Bill Vol. 2' since that was the only thing showing at 3:30, the closest showing time." I haven't watched the first "Kill Bill" yet so I didn't want to watch the second one. Also, I wasn't too crazy about going to watch it; I wanted to watch Jennifer Garner's big screen headliner debut which looked uber-funny!

To kill time, I looked around the area (not much to see) and sat down near a baseball field (very peaceful). Today was such a nice day. I started to get hungry so I contemplated going to Fuddruckers next to the theater. It looked like a clean and relaxing place to eat. Finally, I decided to go in for a small bite and a drink. I already ate a small lunch at noon so I wasn't all that hungry. I settled for a basket of onion rings (spots on my face tomorrow!) and a glass of Vanilla Coke! It was so good because the food was so unhealthy! I loved sitting there and eating slowly, letting time slip through my greasy fingers from dipping the onion rings in ranch dressing.

So here's my take on "13 Going On 30."

I finally saw "13 Going On 30" today and lemme say, it's a crowd pleaser! The most fun you'll have at the movies thus far this year... it's a movie where the laughs DELIVER! Well, I'm sure you would've guessed from the hilarious trailers.

The movie debut at #2 this weekend, a close finish tailing "Man On Fire." I'm not sure why it wasn't #1, but this date flick is going to have legs. If the mediocre "How To Lose A Guys In 10 Days" could cross $100 million last year, "13 Going On 30" will have no problem.

Jennifer Garner is so charming!! She's great in this role and her kiddy acts doesn't come across as "forced." At first I dissed her "Thriller" dance in the trailers, but that scene turned out to be a RIOT! Everybody was hollering in their seats. Even though I'm a Garner fan via "Alias," I'm sure she's won over everybody who watches this. She comes across as a sweetheart, perhaps the next Julia Roberts as the media is early to bill her as.

So go watch "13 Going On 30," you won't regret it! Great music in the movie too! The only thumbs down was Liz Phair's "Why Can't I;" is it a requirement for all romantic comedies to use that song now? I've seen at least 2 other movies prominently use that song.

Some of the trailers shown during "13 Going On 30" were "Raising Helen" (it looks mediocre-ish; starring Kate Hudson), "The Stepford Wives" (my most anticipated movie of the summer! the trailer ROCKS!), "The Notebook" (read: "A Walk To Remember" clone), and "Little Black Book" (a dud starring Brittany Murphy and Holly Hunter).

I've never watched "Big" so I don't know how similar it was to "13 Going On 30."

After I got back to dorm, taking the free shuttle, I got my Shane Nicholson DVD in the mail! Yeah! (Punches fist in air)
"The Time Is Nearing..."
[Music || Avril Lavigne, "My Happy Ending"]
So today, James took me to Mission High School, which was originally slated for last Friday. It's not like it would've made a difference since the school said it was too short notice to get the kids to go on the field trip this Friday. Also, there's STAR testing. Our timing couldn't have been worse.

At least we tried. Friday will come and I sincerely believe our event will be successful. Although it's big and ambitious, I think we can handle it.

Today is such a sunny day, a rarity in SF. I was going to head down to a theater and watch "13 Going On 30" but I got a phone call from my group member that we're meeting today at 5:30 so my plans were quickly dashed.

The time is nearing. Many of my classes are coming to an end in two weeks. The strangest thing is that we've only taken one exam in "Fables and Tales," a relatively enjoyable class. As much as I like the class, I feel that the remaining two exams and papers will make-it-or-break-it. Trouble brews.

It is similar with my government class. The papers weigh a lot so I'm unsure how my grade will come out since I'm unfamiliar with my professor's grading criteria. I can only hope and pray they like my work.

I'm hoping right now to just pass all my classes. I think I'm safe in Speech, Biology, and History (Although my ASU event can seriously damage that grade if the coordinators didn't think I worked well. I hope they liked my efforts!). I'm unsure in Government and Fables and Tales. However, I think I'll manage to get a passing grade in both.

Oh well, there's nothing I can do. Now I have to sit back and just wait.

"Time Won't Change This (The Way I Feel)"
[Music || Lene Marlin, "Sorry"]
Enough!

We're not best friends or even good friends. We're friends now but that does NOT give you the right to invade my personal life or question what I do. I've been on my own for weeks on end and I don't need a check up every so often, okay? Thank you.

I'm independent, like Kelly and Clay's tour name. So this is a reminder to me, press IGNORE the next time I hear the tone of Mandy Moore's "Only Hope." Alright? Alright, I better take my advice.

So unless you're in a dying situation, I don't have time anymore to handle this stuff because I don't need it. So stuff it.

I want to succeed in college and I'm doing so by not fooling around. I'm putting in the hours. My dream. My terms.
