"Grape licorice & Nutella ice cream"
[Music Maria Mena, "You're The Only One"]
Only Angela Ammons and Lene Marlin's music can take you out of the blue.
So yes, I was blue, blue, blue and a couple shades lighter now. I had no idea what to do for dinner tonight, so when my parents left, I just turned on my engine and drove. I decide on Bristol Farms. I knew there was one on Fair Oaks, but I've never been in there for a long time to explore. Why not now?
Sure, it might've been a bit far, but I'm done with school so I went. I remembered a quote by April Wilker, "If it scares you, do it!" and that was the extra shove which pushed me to go. When I got there, the place seemed empty so I wondered if I should head back. Instead, I parked and walked down. Good thing I didn't chicken out because the place was opened 'til 10 p.m.! (It was about 8 p.m. when I got there)
I strolled around the nice market/restaurant/bakery. It's similar to Trader Joe's and Gelson's. I couldn't afford much, but I decided to pick up what I needed: dinner. After looking at salads, wraps, soup, and sushi, I settled on the spinach and cheese ravoli even though it was priced at $6.99 (a far cry from the $3.49 packages at Ralphs). However, it looked a hella more fresh!
I must've went in circles in the shop three times. I ended up adding a pint of Nutella ice cream and grape licorice to my basket. For some reason, I thought "Nutella" was "Godiva" when I picked it up. I finally realized it was that wonderful French chocolate hazelnut spread I loved so much. It was made into ice cream! The bad news was Nutella doesn't work so good as ice cream. It was too creamy and "homemade".. it might've been Bristol Farm's style. No wonder it was cheap by BF standards, 2 for $6.00. The grape licorice packages were so inviting. They also had chocolate ones but I thought grape looked and would taste better. Turns out they were good. There wasn't a price tag for them, but I figured.. how much could they be? They were $3.15 a pack, an OKAY price, but not cheap by any standards.
For three items, my total came out to $13.14! Three items! Oh well, you get what you pay for because the quality is top notch. The workers were also warm and friendly and very cute. It got me all nervous talking to them, "Plastic [bags] will be fine." Gosh, I am dorky.
Anyway, this market excursion was a hoot; it got my mind off some things. On the drive back, I was singing at the top of my lungs to Angela Ammons.. the ultimate relaxation, the perfect laxative.
